Greysheet Catalog Details (GSID: 567)

The 1834 Half Cent is part of a series of Classic Head coins struck from 1809-1836. Struck in Philadelphia and designated as a Proof (PR) strike, this coin is made of Copper.
The 1834 Proof Half Cent is one of the issues of the Classic Head design, in any grade that is known to be a type coin along, with the 1833 and 1835. Surprisingly enough the original mintage is lower than average for the series with 20 pieces struck. Almost all are still known to exist. Overall, this coin is still quite valuable as there are not many examples to choose from. Yet, examples do come up for auction frequently enough for high-end type collectors or any lover of Half Cents to bid on. Collectors of toned coins may also like this issue since it seems to present premium coloring when found with the brown color designation. Bright red examples do exist as well if that is what you are into.
Obverse: Lady Liberty is portrayed with a capped bonnet, facing left, in what is referred to as the so-called classic head style. The word LIBERTY appearing on her headband. 13 stars appear left and right in a 7x6 formation.
Reverse: The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the periphery surround a wreath framing the words HALF CENT. The wreath is tied by a bow at the bottom.

About CDN Prices

All CDN prices are based on proprietary market knowledge and technology developed by CDN Publishing, LLC.

CPG® prices represent retail levels. Collectors should refer to CPG values as a starting place for their negotiations, or auction bid reference.

Greysheet/Greensheet prices are wholesale market levels for collectible coins/paper money intended to indicate what a dealer, or wholesale, buyer would pay for the described item in the specified grade. Greysheet/Greensheet represent "sight-seen" values based on a buyer's in-hand review. The actual value can be more or less than this depending on factors including eye appeal and market timing.

Bluesheet (NGC & PCGS) prices represent the highest sight-unseen offers to buy on dealer networks like CDN Exchange. In many cases, there are no active sight-unseen buy offers, so CDN looks to the recent lowest market values for such an item. For this reason, Bluesheet values typically represent the floor of the market for the specified item. CDN only tracks Bluesheet on certain items.

CAC prices are for U.S. coins that meet the standards of the Certified Acceptance Corporation. You can learn more about CAC on their web site.
