Greysheet Catalog Details (GSID: 3920)

The 1862 Half dime is part of a series of Seated Liberty half dime coins struck from 1860-1873. Struck in Philadelphia and designated as a Proof (PR) strike, this coin is made of 90% silver; 10% copper from a mintage of 550 struck.
Obverse: Lady Liberty is seated on a rock, holding a staff, and bearing a shield with the word LIBERTY on a flowing ribbon. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA adorns the periphery and the date appears at the bottom center.
Reverse: The words HALF DIME are centered and surrounded by an ornate wreath tied by ribbon and double bow at the bottom.
