The 1918-S Cent is part of a series of Lincoln, Wheat reverse (Bronze) coins struck from 1909-1958. Struck in San Francisco and designated as a Business (MS) strike, this coin is made of 95% copper; 5% zinc & tin from a mintage of 34,680,000 struck.
The 1918-S Lincoln cent is a common coin in circulated grades and, naturally, scarcer in the uncirculated grades. Brown and Red-Brown specimens dominate the pool of available uncirculated specimens and are available with decent frequency in the marketplace. Seek pieces with decent strike and even color whenever possible.
Obverse: Bust of Abraham Lincoln framed by IN GOD WE TRUST on the top periphery. The word LIBERTY to the left of the portrait and the date and mintmark (If any) positioned on the right side.
Reverse: Wheat ears flanking the words ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM on the top perimeter.
