Greysheet Catalog Details (GSID: 2500)

The 1936 Cent is part of a series of Lincoln obverse, Wheat reverse coins struck from 1909-1958. The specific variety is Brilliant Finish. Struck in Philadelphia and designated as a Proof (PR) strike, this coin is made of 95% copper; 5% tin & zinc from a mintage of 5,569 struck.
While coin collectors were happy to see new regular-issue proof coinage for the first time since 1916, many didn't like the satin proofs that debuted earlier in 1936. This numismatic outcry led the US Mint to strike brilliant proofs with mirror-like finishes. These more brilliant proofs became extremely popular and were struck in much larger numbers than their satin-finish counterparts. While 1936 proofs are scarcer than the proof coinage that came later on, these 1930s proofs are much more common than the matte proofs that were struck from 1909 through 1936.
Obverse: Bust of Abraham Lincoln framed by IN GOD WE TRUST on the top periphery. The word LIBERTY to the left of the portait and the date postioned on the right side.
Reverse: Wheat ears flanking the words ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM on the top perimeter.

About CDN Prices

All CDN prices are based on proprietary market knowledge and technology developed by CDN Publishing, LLC.

CPG® prices represent retail levels. Collectors should refer to CPG values as a starting place for their negotiations, or auction bid reference.

Greysheet/Greensheet prices are wholesale market levels for collectible coins/paper money intended to indicate what a dealer, or wholesale, buyer would pay for the described item in the specified grade. Greysheet/Greensheet represent "sight-seen" values based on a buyer's in-hand review. The actual value can be more or less than this depending on factors including eye appeal and market timing.

Bluesheet (NGC & PCGS) prices represent the highest sight-unseen offers to buy on dealer networks like CDN Exchange. In many cases, there are no active sight-unseen buy offers, so CDN looks to the recent lowest market values for such an item. For this reason, Bluesheet values typically represent the floor of the market for the specified item. CDN only tracks Bluesheet on certain items.

CAC prices are for U.S. coins that meet the standards of the Certified Acceptance Corporation. You can learn more about CAC on their web site.
