The Banco Internacional del Salvador (International Bank of El Salvador, INT) was founded on 5 April 1880 by Nicaraguan José Francisco Medina with capital of 1,500,000 pesos. On 20 August 1880, the headquarters in San Salvador officially opened. As the first private bank in El Salvador, it was granted a 25-year exclusive concession to issue banknotes.
