Bahamas. Latest $10 Silver Proof and Colour Coin Features Hibiscus Flower
The Central Bank of the Bahamas launch their latest silver collector coins highlighting Island flora & fauna.
Begun in 2023, the third coin in the silver proof and colour series entitled Flora and Fauna features the hibiscus flower, commonly found in the Bahamas and throughout the Caribbean. They are a vibrant, tropical flower that comes in various colours including pink, white, yellow, red and purple. These flowers are known for their large, circular shape and are a popular addition to gardens and landscaping in warm climates. Hibiscus plants can grow as shrubs or small trees, reaching heights of up to 15 feet (4.5 meters) depending on the variety. Ideal for warm and sunny climates, hibiscus plants thrive in full sun and well-drained soil but require regular watering, especially during hot and dry weather.
Hibiscus is also a popular flower in many cultures, where it represents determination and perseverance. Unusual for many flower species, hibiscus petals are edible and can be specially cultivated for use in various culinary preparations such as tea, ice cream, and other dishes.

The silver proof and colour coins are produced by the Osborne Mint from their facilities in Cincinnati, United States on behalf of the Central Bank of the Bahamas. The obverse side includes a vivid colour image of three red hibiscus flowers and leaves, the larger flower centred. Above the primary design is the text HIBISCUS and below, the denomination of 10 DOLLARS. The reverse side depicts the Bahamian Coat of arms or national crest that depicts both a blue marlin and flamingo on either side of the Bahamian shield. The motto FORWARD UPWARD ONWARD TOGETHER is placed below the shield. The crest is centred with the inscription COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS placed along the coins’ upper rim and the year of issue 2025 is shown below the crest.
