The next major auction sale demanding dealer’s and collector’s attention is Part 4 of the Eugene Gardner Collection, to be sold by Heritage Auctions in New York City on October 28th. As with previous offerings of this esteemed collection, many choice type and proof type coins will be available. The auction begins with half cents and large cents, then a run of mint state and proof Indian cents. Next comes a date run of three cent silver pieces, followed by sets of proof Shield nickels and Liberty Head nickels. Following these are Liberty Seated and Barber dimes, quarters, and halves in both mint state and proof, an opportunity for date collectors to fill many holes. A date run of $2½ Indians highlight the last section of the sale. On the following two days, October 29th and 30th Heritage will conduct a Signature auction floor sale of U.S. coins. Featured pieces in these sessions include a pair of MS66 Full Head 1916 quarters, an MS68 1905-O Barber half, and a 1900 quarter eagle graded PR68+/CAC Deep Cameo.
