PNG Adds Record Number of New Members

Professional Numismatists Guild dealers must follow a strict Code of Ethics in the buying and selling of numismatic items.

When John Feigenbaum became the full-time Executive Director of the Professional Numismatists Guild in August 2023 he declared one of his major goals was to change what he described as the “unfair perception that the PNG is an exclusive organization with its doors open to only a few, powerful dealers.”

His efforts to make other dealers feel welcome and join the influential organization have been overwhelmingly successful. PNG membership is now at an all-time high with 319 members in the United States and four other countries. More than 60 new members have joined in the past two years, the highest growth period in the organization’s 70-year history.

“To protect consumers, the hobby, and the profession, PNG membership requirements are strict. Before being admitted as full (Gold Level) members, applicants are vetted for their experience, reputation, and financial stability,” explained Feigenbaum.

“Also, all members must follow our rigorous Code of Ethics. It is a pledge to other dealers and collectors alike that PNG members hold the highest standards in their dealings,” he emphasized.

Among the organization’s programs, PNG hosts exclusive buying and selling opportunities at several major shows across the country, provides consumer education for collectors and investors, and the PNG nexGen program offers hands-on training and mentoring for young, aspiring dealers.

A list of programs for potential members, as well as the membership categories, are online at PNGdealers.org/join. For additional information, contact the Professional Numismatists Guild by phone at 951-587-8300 or by email at info@PNGdealers.org.

For those who apply for the first time, a special discount is available for Gold Level membership. Many of the activities and incentives are underwritten courtesy of our elite sponsors, including NGC, PMG, A-Mark, JM Bullion, Stack’s Bowers, RARCOA, and eBay.

The Professional Numismatists Guild was founded in 1955, due in no small measure to the vision of well-known coin dealer Abe Kosoff. Kosoff and several other coin dealers believed that the hobby of coin collecting would be better served if a professional group was organized. After much effort, the Professional Numismatists Guild was established. Its motto, “Knowledge, Integrity, Responsibility” continues to reflect the aims of our not-for-profit organization.
