Taiwan. Baseball World Championships Celebrated on New Silver Proof Coins
The Central Bank of the Republic of China - Taiwan launched eagerly anticipated collector coins.
Their latest commemorative silver coins honour the national baseball team's triumphant victory at last year's prestigious WBSC Premier12 tournament. The 2024 WBSC Premier12 was the 3rd edition of the WBSC Premier12, a baseball championship featuring the 12 highest-ranked national teams in the world, held by the World Baseball Softball Confederation – WBSC. The championship was held from November 9 to 24, 2024, in Japan, Mexico and Taiwan, whose team won the championship defeating final round hosts and defending champions Japan, 4–0, in the championship game. It was Taiwan's first Premier12 championship and their first overall senior international baseball title ever. The WBSC gave $1,500,000 million in the first prize money which was distributed equally among its players.
The next WBSC Premier12 will be the 4th edition of the championship and will featuring 16 top national teams in the world, expanded from 12 in previous three editions and is scheduled to be staged in 2027.

The silver proof quality coins are produced by the Central Mint of China at their facilities in Taoyuan City on behalf of the Central Bank of the Republic of China – Taiwan. The obverse side depicts a jubilant scene of the Taiwanese national baseball team celebrating the country’s victory in the 2024 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Premier12 Championship. One player is shown hoisting the championship trophy aloft with the team in the background. Above the primary design is the text 中 華 民 國 114 年 (Republic of China Year 114 – equivalent to 2025) and below, along the lower rim is the commemorative inscription 冠 軍 紀 念 (Champion Commemoration) and 第 三 屆 世 界 12 強 棒 球 錦 標 賽 (3rd WBSC Premier12). The reverse side of the coin presents an artistic tribute to baseball's fundamental elements, with detailed engravings that captures an action play highlighting pitching, the power of batting, and the precision of fielding or catching. Above the primary design is the commemorative inscription in English GLOBAL CHAMPIONS PREMIER12. The denomination 50 圓 (50 Dollars) is placed just below the batter and the coins’ specifications 1/2 oz and Ag 999 is shown on either side of the denomination. The commemorative date of the championship and victory is shown as 2024.11.24.

Each coin is encapsulated and presented in a heavy-gauge card folder-style case accompanied with a certificate of authenticity. The coins will be available after a pre-order registration is complete on the 3rd July and will be distributed by the Bank of Taiwan.
