Spink Banknotes is pleased to be hosting a charity auction (FLORA - 22222) on behalf of NatWest Group. We have decided to codename it FLORA, after the Scottish education campaigner and pioneer Flora Stevenson, who appears on the Royal Bank of Scotland £50 polymer notes being sold in the auction. This event will be held at our London headquarters on Tuesday 29 th November at 12:00 p.m.
Proceeds raised from the auction will be going towards the Trussell Trust. The organisation was established in 1997, and aims to see an end to the reliance on emergency food banks in the UK. Over 1300 food banks are organised by the trust, with recent figures showing that 320,000 people have turned to them within the last six months. Between April and September, over 1.3 million food parcels were distributed around the charity’s UK network; more than half of which were sent to children.
A large part of the auction is comprised of polymer banknotes issued by the Royal Bank of Scotland, and Spink is honoured to have hosted Scottish banknote charity auctions since 2007. Additionally, this is the first time we have been able to include Northern Irish banknotes in one of our charity auctions, as a range of polymer Ulster Bank notes will be appearing alongside some earlier Scottish and English notes.
