Costa Mesa, CA – Stacks Bowers Galleries is excited to announce the Bitcoin Halving Sale, featured as part of their Spring 2024 Showcase Auction. Presented are more than 200 desirable physical cryptocurrency coins with a combined market value of more than $1 million. It is the firm’s very first physical crypto sale of the year and certainly one of the most significant they have put together since entering the category in 2021. It is also the very last dedicated crypto auction to be held before the Bitcoin Halving event predicted for mid-April, which has been subject to tremendous excitement and speculation. For collectors, this offering represents the final opportunity to add to their collections leading up to this historic event.

Additionally, the Stack’s Bowers Galleries sale will be the first dedicated crypto sale to be held industry-wide since the approval of Bitcoin spot ETFs by such firms as BlackRock and Fidelity earlier this year. The digital Bitcoin currency has since demonstrated historic growth, which has potentially positive implications for the collectible physical bitcoin category.

Stack’s Bowers Galleries has curated two physical crypto auction sessions as part of their Spring sale, with Part 1 opening for live bidding on Thursday, March 28 and Part 2 taking place on Tuesday, April 2. The sale kicks off with a truly historic BitBills 1 Bitcoin card, which represents the direct precursor to the coin format that would soon be popularized by Casascius and other series. It is followed by a parade of treasures including a Casascius 5 Bitcoin, Casascius 1 Bitcoins in silver and brass, an unfunded Casascius 100 Bitcoin Bar, rarities from the Lealana series in silver, prized “Poker Chips” from the BTCC, Satori, and Mantis Cryptos series, and more than 200 other desirable pieces.

This Bitcoin Halving Sale also marks the live auction debut for a number of significant types including a Ballet Litecoin card, an Excellion Tether poker chip, the Lealana Grim Reaper series, a Denarium “Silver Bull” 1 Bitcoin, and many others. Also presented are selections from several named collections including the Mindtrip Collection, the Collection of Iacobus De Villa, the Lealana Archives, and items from the collection of famed Bitcoin entrepreneur and educator Jimmy Song.

Part 1 and Part 2 of the Bitcoin Halving Sale are currently posted to the Stack’s Bowers Galleries website for pre-sale bidding, and the printed catalogs are being mailed to subscribers. To order a copy of the auction catalog, collectors can contact the firm at Info@StacksBowers.com or call 800-458-4646. New bidders are also welcome to request a complimentary copy of the standard reference for the series, the Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins and Crypto-Currencies by Elias Ahonen (while supplies last).

Looking beyond their Spring sale, Stack’s Bowers Galleries is now accepting consignments to their upcoming June and August physical cryptocurrency sales. Select consignments to the August sale will be promoted at their booth during the 2024 Bitcoin Conference in Nashville in July. For questions on any upcoming lots or the category in general, please contact James McCartney, Director of Numismatics and Physical Cryptocurrency, at JMcCartney@StacksBowers.com.
