Patek Philippe Ref. 1518 Sets New Wristwatch World Record
Last Saturday, November 12th in Geneva a very rare vintage stainless steel Patek Philippe ref. 1518 perpetual calendar with chronograph set a new world record for the most expensive wristwatch in history, selling for $11,136,642 (or 11,002,000 Swiss francs), on a hammer of 9.6 million Swiss francs in the Geneva:Four auction held by Phillips & Co. The watch was made in 1943 and is one of four in existence. The previous record price was for a unique Patek Philippe stainless steel minute repeater-tourbillion-perpetual calendar ref. 5016A which sold last year for 7.3 million Swiss francs.
