In early September, the U.S. Mint began selling bags and rolls of Semiquincentennial one-dollar coins with the likeness of President Donald Trump on the obverse and the presidential seal on the reverse with a privy mark denoting the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The coins, minted in Philadelphia with a circulating finish, were never intended for circulation but have legal tender status. They are composed of 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, a different composition than modern dollars such as Native American and American Innovation dollar programs.
