While reviewing the initial results in various categories of recent auctions, my initial take is that the sales were moderate to strong.
Lincoln matte proofs are scarce as a group, and the 1914 cent is no exception. While lower-end examples turn up with some degree of regularity in the high-end Lincoln circles, nice examples are difficult regardless of color designation. Registry set collectors will pay high premiums for top-grading specimens with few spots and nice color.
Obverse Description
Bust of Abraham Lincoln framed by IN GOD WE TRUST on the top periphery. The word LIBERTY to the left of the portait and the date postioned on the right side.
Reverse Description
Wheat ears flanking the words ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM on the top perimeter.

Greysheet News
More than 300 lots, consisting of high quality Walking Liberty half dollars from the Mack C. Chase Collection are set to cross the auction block as part of Stack's Bowers Galleries' November Showcase Auction, the official auction of the Whitman Expo.
The 1943 bronze Lincoln cent, graded Extra Fine by PCGS, was acquired from a family that held it unverified since the early 1960s.
