In early September, the U.S. Mint began selling bags and rolls of Semiquincentennial one-dollar coins.
Similar to its same-year D-mint counterpart, the 1924-S Lincoln cent is a semi-key coin by every measure, even in circulated condition and particularly in uncirculated grades. In MS65RB and higher, the 1924-S becomes among the top 10 toughest S-mint Lincolns struck before 1930. As with buying any Lincoln cents, it pays to be choosy in picking pieces with the best luster and fewest possible carbon spots.
