Costa Mesa, CA – Stack’s Bowers Galleries is pleased to announce the addition of Michael Moczalla, well-known currency specialist, to their team of expert numismatists. Mike’s focus will be gathering consignments and working with collectors on their United States paper money collections. “I’ve known Mike both personally and professionally for nearly 20 years, and he is a great fit for our team. We are very excited to have him on board,” stated Peter Treglia, Director of Currency. “Mike will remain in the Dallas area and will become a familiar face as he represents Stack’s Bowers Galleries at numerous currency shows throughout the country.”

In 1974, Mike began his numismatic journey as many youngsters do when he received two wheat cents in change in Chicago. In 1990, his interest in currency was piqued after his wife found an error note in her change (an item they still own today). Mike’s career includes opening his own business, MGM Currency and Collectibles in Vernon Hills, Illinois, over 15 years with Heritage Auctions in Dallas, and serving as a contract grader at PMG. He is a 25+ year member of the American Numismatic Association, Treasurer of the Professional Currency Dealers Association, a member of the Society of Paper Money Collectors, the Blue Ridge Numismatic Association, the Florida United Numismatists, the Georgia Numismatic Association, and a life member of the Illinois Numismatic Association.

“In my many years in the trade I have assisted numerous collectors and dealers in acquiring notes for their collections and inventory. I have built my reputation and a foundation of trust through my decades of experience and knowledge,” stated Mike. “I am excited for this next phase of my career as a Currency Specialist at Stack’s Bowers Galleries.”
