While reviewing the initial results in various categories of recent auctions, my initial take is that the sales were moderate to strong.
The unique specimen of this highly important issue rests in the National Numismatic Collection in the Smithsonian Institution and certainly is one of the most significant of all early patterns.
Obverse Description
Liberty facing right, hair flowing in luxuriant tresses, LIBERTY above, and 1794 below. No stars (and thus differing in style from the half dimes made for circulation).
Reverse Description
Pattern die, style never used for general circulation, with perched eagle, low at the center, with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / HALF DISME surrounding. This pattern continues the half disme nomenclature of 1792 (J-7).
