The rare coin market so far in 2026 has been somewhat volatile, with greater price swings happening over a shorter period of time when compared to historical norms.
The mintage more than doubles this year compared to recent prior issues with 2,350 coins struck. Brown pieces are common along with red-brown; only the finest gems are scarce. Full red gems are scarce as well, with the finest ones being very rare. Any grade with a cameo is scarce, at a minimum, with high Mint grades being rare. Look for attractively toned brown pieces or blazing red surfaces as those are the most coveted and are not too tough to find.
