Results Set Record for the Firm's Highest Grossing Auction Sale in its 90+ Year History.
1878 $5. Larger diameter, apparently part of the nagging problem and continuing experiments to make gold coins thinner and wider to eliminate filling.
Obverse Description
Morgan’s Liberty Head, as preceding, only larger.
Reverse Description
Eagle with drooped wings, but larger. Around border, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / FIVE DOLLARS / 5. No periods in reverse border.
