Originally distributed in boxes of Cheerios cereal, the coins were later determined to have a distinctive die variety with boldly defined tail feathers. The details in the feathers of the eagle are much more boldly detailed than in the regularissue design.
Obverse Description
Portrait of Sacagawea with child in a papoose with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST in the left field. LIBERTY centered at the top and the date and mint mark in the lower right field.
Reverse Description
A flying eagle, framed by 13 stars, soars with the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM in the left-center of the design. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR frame the periphery.
