New coins from Austria, Hungary, and the United Kingdom.
The three gold coins of the series — 1 escudo Mexico City 1780, 2 escudos Lima 1715 and 8 escudos Guatemala 1770 — in a presentation case.
The Mint Museum's Jewels collection comprises six coins that reproduce pieces held in the collection of the Museo Casa de la Moneda in Madrid, all of them struck in the Spanish American mints of Potosí, Mexico City, Lima and Guatemala between 1673 and 1780. The series brings together the great trade silver of the Spanish Empire and three gold escudos, including an 8-escudos piece of which the Museum holds the only known example.
