In the 18th century, the Husainidas instituted a hereditary monarchy in Tunisia. Ahmed Bey was the 10th Husainid ruler from 1837 to 1855 (AH1253 to AH1271). Ahmed Bey authorized the state bank, Dar-el-Mal (DEM), which was established in July 1847 by Mahmud bin ’Ayad. In May 1853, the bank failed after ’Ayad fled to France with its assets the year prior.No entries match your filters.
