In the absolute sense, 1938 proof Mercury dime are more common than either the 1936 or 1937 proofs. However, all proof Mercury dimes are categorically scarce. That’s the case at least with 1938 proofs, which are tough above PR66 and rare in PR68 or higher. Those exhibiting any degree of cameo contrast are essentially nonexistent.
