Greysheet Catalog Details (GSID: 326593)

The 1919-S Five cents is part of a series of Buffalo nickel coins struck from 1913-1938. The specific variety is 2 Feathers. Struck in San Francisco and designated as a Business (MS) strike, this coin is made of 75% copper; 25% nickel from a mintage of 7,521,000 struck.
The 1919-S Buffalo nickel is a highly scarce San Francisco issue, with uncirculated examples proving rare and Gems nearly elusive. Finding a well-struck specimen with decent, even color can be harder still. The mintage of this coin stands at 7,521,000, which actually is nowhere near the lowest production figure for any of the early Buffalo nickels. However, relatively few of these pieces were saved by collectors in any grade and an estimated number of fewer than 1,000 were kept in uncirculated condition.
Obverse: James Earle Fraser's famous and simple design depicts a Native American chief with the word LIBERTY from 1-2 o'clock. The date is placed on the lower left of the chieftain's bust.
Reverse: A full portrait of the bison, Black Diamond, with the words UNITED STATES oF AMERICA at the top periphery with the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM just underneath. The denomination FIVE CENTS is spelled out at the bottom. For the Type 1, the denomination is embossed on a flat surface.

About CDN Prices

All CDN prices are based on proprietary market knowledge and technology developed by CDN Publishing, LLC.

CPG® prices represent retail levels. Collectors should refer to CPG values as a starting place for their negotiations, or auction bid reference.

Greysheet/Greensheet prices are wholesale market levels for collectible coins/paper money intended to indicate what a dealer, or wholesale, buyer would pay for the described item in the specified grade. Greysheet/Greensheet represent "sight-seen" values based on a buyer's in-hand review. The actual value can be more or less than this depending on factors including eye appeal and market timing.

Bluesheet (NGC & PCGS) prices represent the highest sight-unseen offers to buy on dealer networks like CDN Exchange. In many cases, there are no active sight-unseen buy offers, so CDN looks to the recent lowest market values for such an item. For this reason, Bluesheet values typically represent the floor of the market for the specified item. CDN only tracks Bluesheet on certain items.

CAC prices are for U.S. coins that meet the standards of the Certified Acceptance Corporation. You can learn more about CAC on their web site.
