Greysheet Catalog Details

The Greysheet Catalog (GSID) of the Bank of Taiwan series of Taiwan in the World Currency contains 19 distinct entries with CPG® values between $1.00 and $2,300.00.
The Bank of Taiwan (BOT) was founded by the Japanese in 1897 and authorized to issue banknotes for the territory of Taiwan. It did so for 100 years, from 1899 to 1999. Each of the two Chinese characters for Taiwan can be written in two different ways: as the older pre-spelling reform 臺 and 灣,and the newer post-spelling reform 台 and 湾. Generally speaking, Bank of Taiwan was written 臺灣銀行 during the Japanese administration (B301 - B321), and as 台湾銀行 by the Chinese administration until 1953. Thereafter, however, 臺湾銀行 is generally found, mixing both old and new characters in the same word. When the bank name appears in English, it generally does so as Bank of Taiwan, although on some banknotes issued by the Japanese administration it appears as Taiwan Bk. Ld. (B301 - B307) or The Bank of Taiwan Limited (B308 - B311).
