In the summer of 1954, my grandfather, Joe, knew it was time for a change. Tired and sore from years of sheet metal work on the high-rise buildings of Manhattan, he decided to pursue his dream of working in numismatics. Joe opened a small coin shop on Hudson Street in Hackensack, and never looked back.

Of course, things have changed from the 1950’s. The shop has moved, from Hackensack to Bergenfield, then later to Point Pleasant and finally to Waretown. Joe passed away in 1997, but the family legacy lives on through a continued and shared passion for numismatics.

My father Matt has owned and operated Waretown Stamp & Coin in this location since 1984. Working as a philatelist and a numismatist for nearly 45 years has given my father an expertise that is second to none. When he's not at the shop, you can find Matt training Myles, his rambunctious Belgian Malinois, or ushering at Ocean Community Church. Matt also loves spending time in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, where he owns an investment property.

I joined the team full time in 2007. In my spare time, I teach yoga and forage for mushrooms in the Pine Barrens. My husband Jonah started working with the family in 2017, and comes to us all the way from Sydney, Australia.

We are proud to say our small business has fully supported three generations of our family. We consider ourselves blessed to be able to do something we love, while offering a service to the community. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us, and please let us know if you have any questions.
