We are excited to close out the 2017 calendar year with an exciting announcement and release of a brand new publication for the collector market. The CPG Coin & Currency Market Review, or “CPG Guide” for short, represents our extension from wholesale pricing to the retail market. The need for this price guide has been obvious to us over the past 24 months as we’ve witnessed a growing disparity between the retail price guides available to collectors and the actual wholesale market prices that coins are trading for between dealers. From our perspective it’s critical that the collector market understand the true value of coins so buyers can make well-informed buying and selling decisions.

COLLECTORS & DEALERS REQUESTED A PRINTED GUIDE

Since we introduced CPG pricing on our web site early in 2017, many collectors have asked for a printed edition of our prices that. The tabloid-size format of the CPG Guide allows us to print all these prices, with coin and currency prices!

The CPG Guide will initially be published on a quarterly basis (Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall) with releases in January, April, July, and October, featuring an important, unique cover article. FIRST ISSUE TO DEBUT AT THE FUN SHOW

Our inaugural issue will be released in time for free distribution at the FUN show in Tampa in January. It features an exclusive interview with Dell Loy Hansen, the Utah businessman who has been sending shock waves through the numismatic community as he works to assemble the greatest collection of U.S. coins ever assembled. The first edition of the CPG Guide will be mailed (complimentary) to over 10,000 current and former CDN subscribers, with another 10,000 copies distributed at coin shows around the country. We hope that dealers will agree that this publication is the top vehicle in the numismatic hobby for reaching this broad community via advertising. A DECISION ROOTED IN DEALER FEEDBACK

Our move to create this price guide was not done lightly, but the chorus of concerns from the dealer community has grown too strong to ignore. The biggest concern dealers have is that collectors use the Greysheet wholesale prices as their primary price guide. Dealers complain (rightly) that collectors come to their booths at shows with a Greysheet looking to buy coins AT OR BELOW Greysheet levels. In many cases, this is simply not possible. Greysheet is intended as the starting point for WHOLESALE transactions.

CONTINUED SUPPORT OF THE ANA

We would also like to emphasize our relationship with the ANA. CPG prices will still be offered in monthly rotation with the ANA’s award-winning Numismatist magazine on a monthly basis, so there are many ways users can access this pricing data.
