New coins from Austria, Hungary, and the United Kingdom.
Marking the 50th anniversary of the death of Pablo Ruiz Picasso (Málaga, 1881 – Mougins, 1973), the Royal Spanish Mint issues an eight-coin program of square silver pieces in color: six 1 oz coins of 10 euro and two 135 g coins of 50 euro. Each reverse reproduces a work held in a Spanish museum — the Museo Reina Sofía and the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid, the Museu Picasso in Barcelona and the Museo Picasso Málaga.
The program was prepared with the collaboration of the National Commission for the 50th Anniversary of Picasso’s death and Acción Cultural Española. All pieces are struck in proof quality.
