On 8 May 1895, the Salvadoran National Assembly issued a decree authorizing General Fabio Morán and Onofre Durán Santillana to found the Banco Ahuachapaneco, also known as the Banco de Ahuachapam (Bank of Ahuachapam) with a capital requirement of 250,000 silver pesos and a 25-year concession.
