The Exchange Bank of China series of China Foreign Banks in the World Currency contains 38 distinct entries.
The Exchange Bank of China (EBC) was established in 1918 with Japanese capital of 10,000,000 yen. The principal reason for its formation was to guarantee Japanese economic interests in Manchuria: to ensure the significant railway, mining, and telegraph loans made to China loans were paid off in a timely manner. The Exchange Bank of China was given the right to issue its own bank notes.
